While the new iPad won’t be released until Friday, a Geekbench result for what appears to be a iPad (4th generation) appeared Sunday night on the Geekbench Browser:
If this benchmark result is real (and there’s nothing in the result that indicates it’s a fake) then it shows that the new iPad comes with a dual-core processor running at 1.4GHz. This result also shows that the new iPad comes with 1GB RAM, the same amount of RAM as the iPad (3rd generation) and the iPhone 5, and twice the amount of RAM as the iPad 2.
How does the new iPad perform compared other iOS devices?
iPad & iPhone Performance
iPad (4th generation) Apple A6 1.4GHz (2 cores) |
|
iPhone 5 Apple A6 1.3GHz (2 cores) |
|
iPad (3rd generation) Apple A5X 1.0GHz (2 cores) |
|
iPad 2 Apple A5 1.0GHz (2 cores) |
The new iPad is 10% faster than the iPhone 5 (unsurprising given the new iPad is running the same processor as the iPhone 5 at a slightly higher frequency). and is over twice as fast as the iPad 2 and the iPad (3rd generation). If you have an iPad and you are looking for more performance then you will find the new iPad a compelling upgrade.
